"In the past, people might buy a couple of certificates from our website or talk to us about buying an entire digital certificate issuing system," said Dean Coclin vice-president of business development with ChosenSecurity. "TC ID store bridges those two gaps by allowing you to come in and put down a deposit and with that deposit draw down against any type of certificate you might need."

Digital certificates available at TC ID Store include e-mail certificates for e-mail authentication and encryption, VPN certificates for authentication and e-mail gateway certificates as well as SSL certificates for servers.

Once a customer signs up, Coclin said users then have access to an online account where they would login, select the kind of certificate they need and then administer these certificates to employees or to customers or to their machines simply and easily with no footprint on the users side. Additionally, using the TC ID Stores web interface, users can approve, revoke, suspend or even reinstate certificates.

Customers are required to deposit a minimum of $1000. According to Coclin, the larger the deposit, the greater the discount each individual certificate will have. Certificate validity can be for one, two or three years.

For example, a personal id certificate to authenticate e-mail costs an individual $17.95 with no deposit. With a deposit of $1000, the price goes down to $11.35 and a deposit of $5500 brings the cost down to $10.67.

Other features and benefits of TC ID Store include international X.509 standard and ISIS-MTT-compatible certificate profiles and access to comprehensive activity reports that lets users see how many certificates have been issued, how much deposit is left and who certificates were issued to.
