Aimetis Corp. announces new IP-video surveillance software
20 April, 2008 By Erin Bell |

Aimetis Corp. has introduced a cost-effective entry point for businesses looking to migrate to IP-video surveillance -- a market that's expected to increase by 46 per cent in 2008 -- with the launch of Aimetis Symphony video management software.
Aimetis Symphony is a video management and analytics software platform built on an open, standards-based architecture that integrates analog and IP cameras. It offers a scalable IT infrastructure and customizable user interface for security and IT professionals to efficiently manage and analyze video data with a minimal learning curve.
"Aimetis Symphony makes intelligent video more accessible to all segments of the surveillance market by enabling organizations of any size to maximize their current analog investments or transition from an analog 'record only' installation to intelligent network video - all at a cost-effective price point," said Marc Holtenhoff, chief executive officer, Aimetis Corp.
The software supports all analogue and 15 different network camera manufacturers, making it ideal for deployment in hybrid environments. Aimetis Symphony also runs on Windows-based commercial off-the-shelf hardware, such as PCs and servers.
Companies could use their existing analogue and network systems to generate real-time business intelligence reports containing information on people counts, dwell time, activity level, congestion, traffic flow patterns, and high risk areas.
Advanced surveillance features include integrated video analytics for auto alarming on various user-defined policies, advanced "Smart Search" capabilities, and IT features such as server farms, automatic software updates and software dev kits.
There are no server licensing fees or client viewing licensing fees associated with Aimetis Symphony. Instead, the software operates on a "one camera, one license" licensing model. Within that model, three per-license pricing options are available, which can be mixed and matched depending on user requirements. They are:
Standard License ($89) -- Recording: An entry platform for IP-surveillance and ideal for users looking for basic video recording but want a migration path to video analytics for future use.
Professional License ($199) -- Management: Contains all core video recording features of the Standard License plus robust event management integration from devices such as camera alarms that enables the quick and efficient retrieval of specific events without having to review all video recordings.
Enterprise License ($825)-- Intelligent Management: Designed for applications requiring real-time intelligence on camera feeds with enhanced event-based search capabilities.
